Two Seeded Players Out Early At Connecticut Open

Ana Bogdan's qualifying match got rained out Friday at the Connecticut Open so she ended up playing three matches Saturday and Sunday, all in a 24-hour span.

She won all three, then had to face world No. 18 Elena Vesnina, the tournament's fifth seed, Monday in the first round of the main draw on the stadium court at the Connecticut Tennis Center.

The only other time Bogdan, ranked 127th in the world, had faced Vesnina — an Olympic doubles gold medalist and Wimbledon doubles winner this year — was at the Australian Open in January and she lost, 7-5, 6-2.
