Kerber prevails in slugfest

STANFORD There have been upsets aplenty at the Bank of the West Classic this week, but the tournament has been decidedly lean on high-quality tennis thrills. That finally changed in a big way Friday night when the foiled finalists from the last two years, Agnieszka Radwanska and Angelique Kerber, squared off in a marathon slugfest that featured numerous long rallies, engaging points and close games that delighted the crowd of 2,424 at Stanford's Taube Family Tennis Center. It looked and felt like a final, with Kerber ultimately pulling out a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory in 2 hours, 26 minutes. How close was it?
