Caroline Wozniacki hadn't been tested like this before in her time playing in New Haven.
But on Wednesday evening, as the shadows slowly crept over the court at the Connecticut Tennis Center, Wozniacki held off three match points from Roberta Vinci to pull out a three set victory, 6-4, 6-7(8-6), 7-6(9-7), and move on to Thursday's quarterfinal match.
"I think result-wise, yes, [it] probably [was the toughest result in Connecticut]," Wozniacki said after the match. "But at the end of the day, hats off to her for not making me feel great out there. She completely ruined my rhythm."
