The Fire finally delivered on their preseason promise on Saturday.
Captain Jeff Larentowicz scored the game-winner on a second-half free kick, and Scottish international Shaun Maloney collected his first Fire goal and assist in a 3-2 victory over Toronto FC.
The win was the second straight for the Fire (2-3-0) and their first two-game winning streak in nearly a year.
