McCutchen, Alvarez hit homers to spark 5-2 victory against Giants

PITTSBURGH It's shaping up to be a race to the finish in a loaded National League Central division. The Pirates, Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals all won Sunday night, as the rest of the senior circuit continues to fade far, far behind. Andrew McCutchen and Pedro Alvarez hit solo home runs to back up a strong start from left-hander Francisco Liriano, who pitched around three errors, and the Pirates won, 5-2, in a nationally televised game at PNC Park to take three of four games from the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants (66-58). The Pirates are 3.5 games behind the Cardinals, three ahead of the Cubs. The Pirates (74-48) have won nine of their past 11 games....
