Family Puts Running In Proper Focus For Luke Puskedra

Luke Puskedra finished fourth in the U.S. Olympic marathon trials in February. After so much hope, so much hype, all that training and sacrifice and work, he would not be going to Rio. He had been the third-fastest qualifier going in.

Crushed and disappointed, he and his wife planned to get out of their hometown of Eugene, Ore., — known as "Tracktown USA" — and take their 7-month-old daughter away for a vacation and some down time.

But over the next week, Puskedra — who will run the Faxon Law New Haven 20K road race Monday — gained a little life perspective and along the way, found out how much support he had among friends and in the running...
