  1. Terrific acting in the early days of the fall season

Perchance it was too much lying around on the beach this summer. Maybe the exiting humidity is blessed relief. Or maybe there's the sense that these are serious times requiring serious artistic responses. Whatever the reason, Chicago actors have been on fire this past week.

  7. A Time For Redemption

Maybe it's me, but the time between the first and second football games of this NFL season seems like it has been almost seven years instead of seven days. So while I await the start of the madness again for this Sunday I can't but help think of all the recapping that has been done in the last 6 days. Wow, to hear some of those talking heads on both the radio and TV has left my head spinning. I have heard so many things about what the Indianapolis Colts did wrong that I am thoroughly convinced that this season will be more of heartbreak as compared to high fives.
