Born in the St. Louis area and raised in Newport, R.I., Jacobs is a graduate of the University Missouri School of Journalism.
Amore teaches sportswriting as adjunct professor of journalism at Southern Connecticut State University.
Jacobs joined the Courant in 1984 and covered the Whalers and the NHL for 11 years before becoming the general sports columnist in 1995. Jacobs has been named Connecticut Sports Writer of the Year nine times and twice was named one of the Top 10 national columnists by the Associated Press Sports Editors. Jacobs and his wife, Liz, have a daughter Katerina, and a son Liam.
