In a dash of hockey serendipity, the last coach in Ray Ferraro's 19-season NHL career turned out to be longtime Whalers teammate Joel Quenneville. It was March 2002 and Ferraro was traded at the deadline to the St. Louis Blues by the Atlanta Thrashers. The Thrashers wanted to give Ferraro a final shot at the Stanley Cup.
