Pittsburgh Penguins star center Sidney Crosby was diagnosed with the mumps, the team announced Sunday.
The Penguins said that Crosby will be monitored daily but expect him to be through the infectious period by Monday.
Crosby has been ruled out of Monday's game against the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning.
Crosby practiced Friday morning despite feeling ill on Thursday. He has not played the last two games as a precaution and is expected to have more tests.
