Penguins land winger Phil Kessel in trade with Maple Leafs

The Penguins made a major splash Wednesday, landing prolific winger Phil Kessel in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs and punctuating their pursuit of a high-scoring top-six winger with one of the league's most dynamic players. The club will send prospect Kasperi Kapanen, defenseman Scott Harrington, forward Nick Spaling along with a third-round draft pick in 2016 to the Maple Leafs for Kessel, defenseman Tim Erixon and winger Tyler Biggs. Kessel, an electric player who scored 25 goals last year and 37 in 2013-14, has put up 30-plus in four of his six seasons in Toronto.
