On The Fly: Rebuilding Celtics Ship Rondo To Dallas

The Celtics announced Thursday night that Rajon Rondo, the great passer/suspect outside shooter, has been traded to the Dallas Mavericks along with Dwight Powell. In return, the Celtics get Jameer Nelson, Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, a conditional first-round draft pick, a 2016 second-round pick and a $12.9 million trade exception.

The Celtics are a floundering team. Trading Rondo puts them in a major rebuilding mode, but with wise draft picks they should improve from their current state. Playing with Dirk Nowitzki and other quality players, Rondo can stand out in Big D.
