After dropping to 5-9 with a loss to East Windsor on Jan. 29, the Ellington High School girls' basketball team believes it can still make it to the CIAC tournament, and possibly make a statement there.
Coach Jim Pointek said that his team, with just two seniors, is a young-but-talented group that likes to play up-tempo, but, as with the East Windsor game, sometimes has trouble finding the net.
"We didn't hit the shots, so we couldn't create the havoc that we like to create," Pointek said.
Going forward, the Knights will benefit from the return, from injury, of junior Shannon Maquire, who was out the whole season.
