Renovated Keney Park Brings Golfers Home

HARTFORD — When Douglas Taylor first played golf in 1997, picking up the clubs thanks to the influence of Tiger Woods, he did so on the golf course at Keney Park. On Sunday morning, after waiting through a three-year restoration project, Taylor teed off there again.

"It's amazing. It's nice to see," Taylor said from the 16th tee box. "I'm happy. They needed to do it. The people who had it before ran it into the ground. We stopped playing here, took our league from here."

Taylor, of South Windsor, wasn't the only golfer to stop playing at 6,019 yard, par-70 Keney Park as the conditions slowly deteriorated. Talk to any of the players walking the newly...
