Daniel Berger is trying to stay patient. With everything that's at stake for the PGA Tour rookie this week, that's no easy task.

Berger opened the BMW Championship at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest — the third leg of the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup playoffs — with a 6-under 65, holing out for eagle on the par-4 ninth to finish just before rain halted play on Thursday, Sept. 17. Like the rest of the 70-player field, Berger is trying to secure his spot in the FedEx Cup top 30 to earn a spot in next week's season-ending Tour Championship.
