A Connecticut woman and her identical twin sister will be featured on a "Today'' show segment Tuesday, June 23 with show correspondent, Jenna Bush Hager.

West Hartford resident Debbie Mehlman and her identical twin sister, Sharon Poset, from Birmingham, Ala., will be featured on Tuesday's "Life of a Twin" segment of the show with "Today'' correspondent and twin, Bush Hager, daughter of former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush and granddaughter of former President George H. W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush.

The segment, part of the week-long special series on twins, features the now 63-year-old identical sisters who were separated at birth when put up for adoption, but eventually found each other 18 years ago, Mehlman said.

"I had hired a private investigator and that, with some emails, eventually led us to each other," Mehlman said Monday explaining how she and her sister reunited. "We talked a lot on the phone before we met for the first time and when I was waiting at the airport to see her for the first time wondered what else could I possibly talk to her about," Mehlman recalled. "And then we saw each other and it was unbelievable how even though we had never seen each other we had the same hand gestures and expressions and voice. It was amazing."

The show learned of Mehlman and Poset through twins' expert, author and Cal State psychologist, Nancy Segal, Mehlman said.

"It all happened so fast," said Mehlman who, with her sister, welcomed Bush and the "Today'' crew to her West Hartford home a week ago to tape the segment delving into the "nature vs. nurture" question when twins are separated.

"She was so adorable and so nice," said Mehlman, about Bush who has a fraternal twin sister, Barbara Bush. "And so down to earth."

Both Mehlman and her sister eventually married and had one child each. They learned they had both been raised in New Jersey, about 20 miles from each other by their respective adoptive families.

And as far as watching Tuesday's show?

"We'll just tape it because I don't get up that early," said the retired Mehlman. "And my sister doesn't get up that early either so she'll be taping it too."
