Close isn't good enough, shouldn't be for Bears

Many things happened during Sunday's 31-23 defeat to the Packers at Soldier Field that made the Bears feel good about having a bona fide NFL head coach on the sidelines again.

But perhaps the most convincing evidence came afterward when Bears coach John Fox was asked whether he considered the competitive, closer-than-expected loss a moral victory.

"Mmm-mmm, no,'' Fox said without hesitation. "That's 0-1. We've got 15 more, which is the good news.''

The bad news: Sometimes in Chicago, we get carried away with coming close. As much as Fox set the right tone, the challenge will be getting Bears players to build on positives without making too much of an effort...
