On The Fly: More Big East Honors For PC's Kris Dunn
It has been a breakout season for Providence guard Kris Dunn, the former New London High standout who has battled a shoulder injury in college. The sophomore has averaged 15.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 7.4 assists, emerging as one of the best point guards in the country. Dunn was honored Wednesday by the Big East Conference — remember that? — as he was named co-player of the year with Villanova's Ryan Arcidiacono. He also earned defensive player of the year, becoming the sixth player in league history to win both awards. The past three: Hasheem Thabeet in 2009, Emeka Okafor in 2004, Donyell Marshall in 1994. Dunn has led PC to a 21-10 record and the No. 4 seed in the Big East Tournament this weekend at Madison Square Garden.
