The Minnesota Vikings have given coach Mike Zimmer a contract extension as he opens his third training camp with the team.
General manager Rick Spielman declined to disclose the terms of the deal when the Vikings reported Thursday to Minnesota State University, but Zimmer's original contract was not close to expiring. Zimmer even said he saw no rush to address it.
Spielman, though, said the Vikings were eager to build on the buzz that's surrounding the organization this summer with the opening of U.S. Bank Stadium and the return of a team that went 11-5 in the regular season and won the NFC North in Zimmer's second year on the sideline.
