Aaron Hernandez had CTE, lawyer will sue NFL on behalf of late Patriot's daughter

Aaron Hernandez, the Bristol native who went from NFL star to convicted killer, had an advanced case of the degenerative neurological disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy and the brain function of a 67-year-old when he killed himself, his lawyer and Boston University said Thursday.

The attorney filed a federal lawsuit against the National Football League on behalf of the New England Patriots' daughter, Avielle. The lawsuit alleges that by the time Hernandez reached the NFL in 2010, league officials were aware of the effect repeated traumatic impacts had on the brain but failed to tell anyone.
