Former UConn football player Will Beatty has been released by the New York Giants, the team announced on Wednesday.
Beatty, an offensive tackle and second-round pick of the Giants in 2009, missed the entire 2015 season due to a combination of a pectoral injury and then a torn rotator cuff. Both required surgery.
Over the course of his seven-year career Beatty, 30, played in 82 regular-season games.
The Giants also announced a second lineman, Geoff Schwartz, had also been released. In addition injury-prone linebacker Jon Beason announced his retirement.
