On The Fly: Dick MacPherson Was Huge In Syracuse Community

Dick MacPherson, who coached Syracuse football for 10 years, led the Orange to an undefeated season in 1987 and later coached the Patriots, died Tuesday. He was 86.

MacPherson was a noted football coach, but his glowing personality and dedication to the Syracuse community will surely be missed. Coach Mac was 66-46-4 at SU, including 11-0-1 30 years ago. He was 4-1-1 in bowl games. A lot of coaches fell from his tree, including UConn coach Randy Edsall.
