Jeremiah Ratliff's suspension a big blow to Bears

The transgression that earned Jeremiah Ratliff a three-game suspension Monday was so long ago he forgot the NFL's disciplinary hammer was hovering. The Bears defensive lineman was more than ready to move on when he pleaded guilty in April to a DWI charge that resulted from a crash in January 2013. After finally emerging from the legal slog, he turned his attention to spring practices and anchoring the center of the new Bears defense. On Monday, though, the league's hammer fell — and it stung. Three games. No pay. Ratliff decided not to appeal, so he'll miss the Bears' home games against the Packers and Cardinals and road game against the Seahawks. ...
