Matt Veretto never stopped running with teammate Joey Reilly ahead of him on his way for a layup attempt. When the ball bounced off the rim, Veretto jumped, snatched the ball with his left hand and dunked.
"The place went crazy," East Catholic's Mike McGuirl said of the dunk with one minute and 23 seconds remaining at Rev. Robert Saunders Gymnasium on Friday night. "Matt was really there for us the whole game."
Whether the contribution was a dunk, three-pointer, rebound, assist or hustle, Veretto was the chief contributor for the Eagles in their showdown against rival East Hartford.
