Sportswriters inevitably get the question: How do you cover teams you once loved as a fan?

  5. Ravens news, notes and opinions on Orioles, Ed Reed, Bryant McKinnie and more

As the Orioles and Ravens try to work out a scheduling conflict that has put in jeopardy the NFL’s hopes of opening up the regular season on Thursday, Sept. 5 at M&T Bank Stadium, the relationship between the two downtown neighbors has again come under scrutiny. That’s a shame because over the past year or so, the synergy between the Orioles and Ravens never appeared better. Ravens players wore cartoon bird hats and frequently brought up the Orioles during their playoff run. When the Orioles played the New York Yankees at home in Game 2 of their playoff series, half the Ravens’ roster was at Camden Yards.

  7. Jay Cutler, meet Ashton Kutcher

You know what I’m talking about when I refer to “Jay face,’’ right? That pouty look that Jay Cutler flashes when things go badly?  The one that every director of every televised Bears game has dedicated a camera to?

  9. Cutler should expect many teaching moments

In the event Marc Trestman and Jay Cutler do not always speak the same language, the Bears have hired a translator.

  11. Ravens stun Brady, Patriots in New England

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — They wanted the Patriots, told the world that they would win and then went in their stadium and dominated the second half like no visiting team has done at Gillette Stadium.

<em>Every morning, Monday through Friday, blogger Matt Vensel will hook you up with reading material -- mostly on the Ravens but with some other Baltimore sports stuff, too -- to skim through as you slug down coffee and slack off at the start of your workday. Joe Flacco and the Ravens have to win one-on-one matchups in the AFC championship game at Gillette Stadium when the Patriots send pressure.
