The Jets' offensive performance Sunday at MetLife Stadium was epitomized by Bryce Petty's second-to-last pass attempt of the afternoon.
Trailing the Chargers by a touchdown with less than four minutes left, Petty's unit had driven into the red zone. Facing a fourth-and-7, the 26-year-old quarterback saw Robby Anderson in one-on-one coverage on the right side. He fired a throw to the speedy receiver, but the ball was nowhere close. It fell to the turf, and the Jets' chances at victory evaporated.
Petty was nothing short of dreadful in a 14-7 loss to the Chargers on Christmas Eve.
