1. Patriots block it all out, shift focus to the Ravens

Bill Belichick gave his players Sunday off, a day to rest and enjoy their dominating divisional round win over the Denver Broncos the night before.
Boston Globe
Bill Belichick gave his players Sunday off, a day to rest and enjoy their dominating divisional round win over the Denver Broncos the night before. But when they returned to Gillette Stadium yesterday, the message was clear: "[It's a] one-game season,''...

3. Ravens know onus is on offense to dictate pace vs. Patriots

As the Ravens arrived at their team complex in Owings Mills today, overjoyed that they still have more football to play, the euphoria surrounding their victory over the Houston Texans Sunday and a berth in the AFC Championship game had been replaced by a sobering reality.

5. End of the Road: Texans playoffs officially end

BALTIMORE - Some may blame the Texans' 20-13 loss to Baltimore in the AFC Divisional Playoffs on Jacoby Jones' first-quarter fumble or Houston's four turnovers.
BALTIMORE - Some may blame the Texans' 20-13 loss to Baltimore in the AFC Divisional Playoffs on Jacoby Jones' first-quarter fumble or Houston's four turnovers. Bottom line: the Texans are officially done, and will soon clean out their lockers. Ed...

7. Instant analysis: Ravens defense holds on after offense stalls

Kevin Cowherd, columnist: Credit the defense with the win that sends the Ravens on to New England. Corner Lardarius Webb had a great game and safety Ed Reed finally made a big play on theTexans' final drive to seal the win. The offense looked sluggish and unfocused at times, despite a few terrific throws by Joe Flacco. But a win is a win, especially wen it gets you into the AFC Championship game.

9. Five Things We Learned in the Ravens 20-13 playoff win over the Texans

1. There is nothing wrong with conceding that Ed Reed and Ray Lewis aren't the players they once were. I don't even think that statement is really all that controversial. No man can outrun the steady march of time, not even the two greatest defensive players of this era. But in a way, I'm more fascinated watching Reed and Lewis now than I was when they were both in their prime. Because they're both still capable of conjuring up a little magic. There is something admirable about watching a great lion dig deep and mount one final, furious charge. Perfection is unnecessary. All that matters is that you live to fight another day.

15. Five Things We Learned in the Ravens' 23-20 loss to the Patriots in the AFC championship

1. Joe Flacco might not be playing in the Super Bowl this year, but he'll get to one eventually. And he'll do it wearing a Ravens uniform. After watching him play four years of football, and seeing him both at his best, and at his worst, I feel totally comfortable saying that. He may not be the perfect quarterback, but he's your quarterback, Baltimore.

17. Steven Tyler National Anthem: Star Sings At AFC Championship Game

Steven Tyler sang the National Anthem at Sunday's AFC Championship game. It probably wasn't his best work. The Aerosmith frontman struggled a bit throughout his pre-game rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner," singing with a raspier-than-normal voice through Francis Scott Key's iconic patriotic tune. He had trouble hitting the signature high note, which is a far cry from his heralded days leading one of the biggest bands of the 70s and 80s. As a judge on "American Idol," who decides if singers have the chops to make it big, the performance probably won't do him any favors when it comes to handing down the fate of aspiring artists. The rendition didn't hurt his hometown team, though; the New England Patriots advanced to the Super Bowl with a 23-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
