Court Rules Goodell Has Authority To Suspend Brady, So Pats' QB Will Miss 4 Games

NEW YORK — Once again, a ruling went against the Patriots' marquee player.

The

NFL won its appeal when a three-judge panel from the U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Monday that Tom Brady should serve the four-game suspension originally handed down by commissioner Roger Goodell for the quarterback's role in Deflategate. The 2-1 decision overturned Federal District Judge Richard Berman's ruling from September that lifted the suspension.

The ruling did not point a guilty finger at Brady, but instead said Goodell had the authority to issue the penalty.
