Patriots' Jones Starts Playoff Game Despite Turbulent Week

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — When the Patriots defense took the field for the first series Saturday, Chandler Jones was lined up at defensive end.

Given his long, strange week, that was something of a surprise. Jones was hospitalized early last Sunday morning after wandering into the Foxborough Police Department.

Jones reportedly had a back reaction to synthetic marijuana and he told reporters later in the week that he had made a mistake. Still, there was a thought that coach Bill Belichick might keep Jones on the bench to start the game.

Instead, he started and contributed — Jones forced a fumble that led to a turnover and had a second-half sack.
