Mark Carbone, The Courant boys basketball player of the year in 2015-16, has requested his release from the University of San Diego. "The distance away from family and home was a big factor," Carbone, a graduate of East Catholic-Manchester, said by telephone from San Diego Tuesday. Carbone, a 6-foot-2 freshman guard, started two of the 28 games he played for San Diego.
