Iverson Proves Hard To Handle In Vantage Sportsnet's Pro-Am Win

Early in the first game of a Greater Hartford Pro-Am doubleheader Friday night, league founder Peter Higgins sat in a corner of the gym and watched from afar as Kuran Iverson took the ball over midcourt and weaved through the lane for a layup.

Iverson was too quick, too tall, for any defender to offer much in the way of disruption.

"Too easy," Higgins said.

Iverson is one of those players who, for about half the Pro-Am's 20 summers of basketball, has offered that make-it-look-easy brand of play. He started playing as a 14-year-old, shortly before becoming known for his success at Northwest Catholic, and has often glided where others grind.
