CORVALLIS, Ore. — The Yale baseball team's NCAA tournament run came to an end late Sunday with an 8-1 loss to Oregon State, the No. 1 team in the country playing in its home park.
The Bulldogs completed the regional at 2-2 with wins over Big Ten champion Nebraska and Patriot League winner Holy Cross. But the 52-4 Beavers lived up to their status, knocking off Yale twice in advancing to the next round.
Tournament highlights for 34-18 Yale included center fielder Tim Degraw (seven hits, six runs scored) and Alex Stiegler (six hits, six RBI). It was the first time Yale had won more than one game in tournament play since 1948.
