Marathon Farms' juvenile homebred Whirlin Curlin, an upset winner of back-to-back stakes at Laurel, looks to make it three in a row in the $100,000 Heft for 2-year-olds going 7 furlongs Saturday at Laurel Park. The Heft is one of six stakes worth $550,000 in purses to be run Saturday as part of Laurel's Christmastide Stakes Day program. A gelded son of Hall of Famer Curlin trained by Gary Capuano, Whirlin Curlin won the 6-furlong Christopher Elser on Nov. 25 and the 7-furlong Maryland Juvenile Futurity on Dec. 9, both against restricted company and each at odds of more than 21-1.
