  • Rassman lifts Loyola Md. to narrow overtime win in men's basketball

    Junior forward Franz Rassman scored with one second remaining in overtime to lift Loyola Maryland to a 61-59 victory over Fairfield on Sunday at the Brooklyn Hoops Winter Festival at Barclays Center. Junior guard Tyler Hubbard scored 21 points to lead Loyola (4-7), which had lost three in a row. Freshman guard Andre Walker had 14 points and nine rebounds. Junior forward Marcus Gilbert scored 14 points to lead Fairfield (4-8). In a tight final seven minutes of regulation, the teams exchanged leads several times. The Stags went up 55-53 on two free throws by Gilbert with 1:30 remaining, but a layup by junior guard Eric Laster tied the game with 1:16 to go. The Greyhounds had a chance to win in regulation, but Walker missed two jumpers in the last five seconds. The game was tied at 59 when Rassman made a layup with one second remaining.
