When Randy Edsall began coaching at UConn in preparation for the 1999 season, the Huskies were a Division I-AA program in the Atlantic 10. Edsall steered as the Huskies transitioned to the level now known as FBS and navigated the Big East.
UConn twice won the conference and reached five bowl games, including the Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Day 2011. That was Edsall's last day on the job — he abruptly left for Maryland that night — until this week.
UConn announced Wednesday that Edsall is returning, and on Friday he'll be at Rentschler Field looking to win a press conference some eight months before trying to win a game.
