Regional Digest: Connecticut Carp Open Casts Off Monday

Anglers Getting ReadyFor CT Carp Open The Connecticut Carp Open fishing tournament, a 100-hour marathon on the Connecticut River, starts Monday and ends Friday. At stake is $12,500 in prize money with $3,500 going to the angler who catches the biggest carp. If someone breaks the state record for largest carp, 43 pounds, 12 ounces by Michael Hudak, that is worth $100,000. Hudak will be competing in the contest. The catch-and-release competitors will fish while camping on the banks of the Connecticut River along a nearly 50-mile stretch from Hartford's Charter Oak Landing south to Haddam Meadows State Park.
