Carson Cross has always operated on a unique time table. But when the MLB draft began, he had to wait a little longer than he was anticipating.
When his name was finally called, though, by the Cardinals in the 14th round Wednesday, it seemed all was as it was supposed to be.
"Ecstatic," said Cross, UConn's No.1 pitcher this past season. "As a pitcher, especially a taller righthander, you couldn't ask for a better organization to be picked by. It's what happens after the draft that matters."
