    Earl Lloyd, who made his NBA debut as the first black player in 1950, died Thursday at 86. He was with the Syracuse Nationals when they won the 1955 NBA title and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003. ... A few readers reminded me why I was not a math major. Tom Heinsohn had 43 points, making 18 field goals. Also got an email from Kathy Sharry Kray about the wrong year. She said Bob Cousy, who had 31 points and 28 assists in the game, was in business with her father in Worcester at "Cousy & Sharry Insurance Agency. We called him Uncle Bob out of respect for your elders. We spent many a day at his house with his family as they were also good friends. I still see him occasionally as he spends his summers in Worcester. He'll be 87 in August." ... Starting Monday, the NBA will release reports of all calls and pertinent no-calls in games within five points at the two-minute mark and any overtime period. Those reports had been for internal use.
