Dickenman's Plans For Retirement Include New Hobbies, Family And, As Always, Basketball

Sometime in late October, recently retired Central Connecticut State men's basketball coach Howie Dickenman is planning on attending a Santa Claus workshop because, well, that's what he wants to be.

And now, if he so chooses, Howie can "Ho Ho Ho" all he wants. He has more time.

But on a steamy hot August morning, the 69-year-old Dickenman was crouched over a desk in an office parsing over a stack of cards and letters wishing him well in his retirement after 20 years as the Central coach.

Outside that office, in Kaiser Hall, around the corner from Detrick Gym, is a sign that read Men's Basketball.

Dickenman is still in that office. And he has work to do...
