  • On The Fly: Injury Could End Bryant's Season

Have we seen the last of Kobe Bryant? The Lakers great could miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury, which could be career-threatening for a 36-year-old with lots of miles on his body. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports that the Lakers will go through the weekend before making a final decision, but season-ending surgery seems inevitable. Bryant may well come back, although he's been declining and is clearly inching toward the end. He's won five NBA titles and he's third on the all-time points list with 32,482, trailing only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387) and Karl Malone (36,928). The Lakers (12-21) are fourth from the bottom in the NBA, so it will be awhile before Bryant's team is contending for another title. Might be time for Kobe to ride off into the sunset and start preparing his Springfield speech.
