New agreements between the NBA and NCAA allow a college player to test the professional waters without taking an irrevocable plunge.
UConn's Daniel Hamilton, after a strong postseason, will do that. His father, Greg, confirmed that he will declare for the June 25 NBA draft. Hamilton will have until May 25 to decide whether to return to UConn for 2016-17, which would be his junior season. He does not plan to hire an agent, which will preserve his eligibility.
"Daniel needs to see how [NBA teams] see him," Greg Hamilton said. "This really gives a player a chance to get an accurate assessment of where he is at this time."
