NEW YORK – Daniel Hamilton will get his chance to play in the NBA.
Hamilton, who surprised many experts by leaving UConn after his sophomore season and entering the NBA draft weeks before he needed to make the decision, was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder — who bought the pick from the Denver Nuggets — in the second round, at No. 56, on Thursday night at Barclays Center.
Hamilton was home in Los Angeles with his family as the draft unfolded. With the influx of international players – a record 14 selected in the first round – several underclassmen were pushed to late in the first round, the second round or out of the draft altogether.
