A year ago, UConn honored three of the best players in the country on Senior Day. Breanna Stewart, Moriah Jefferson and Morgan Tuck represented a historic run in program history and fans at Gampel Pavilion gave them a rousing goodbye.
This year, Senior Day had a decidedly different feel. It was less about achievement and more about perseverance.
UConn honored Tierney Lawlor and Saniya Chong before the victory over Memphis. Lawlor, a former walk-on, has been a fan favorite as a player who contributes but doesn't get much playing time. Chong, who struggled to carve out a role for three years, has become an important player as a senior.
