HARTFORD — On a night when most of the initial attention was focused on Breanna Stewart's pursuit of her 2,000th career point, one of UConn's emerging players made a few points of her own with tireless effort.
Sophomore Gabby Williams, had a breakout first half Monday at the XL Center to help the Huskies to their 97-57 win over Kansas State.
After Stewart scored eight of UConn's first 12 points – and picked up her second foul with 2:07 to play in the first quarter – it was Williams who carried the load in the first half.
