Phoenix Mercury guard and UConn alum Diana Taurasi became the first WNBA player to score 8,000 career points on Tuesday.
Taurasi reached the milestone during the Mercury’s game against the New York Liberty at Madison Square Garden.
The WNBA star is already the all-time leading scorer, moving past Tina Thompson — who boasted 7,488 points — on June 18, 2017. Taurasi was the fastest player to reach 7,000 points, hitting the mark on June 24, 2016.
