Half-court shot starts 'crazy week' for Vernon Hills grad Lem Turner

Former Vernon Hills two-sport standout Lem Turner laughed at the irony of his newfound fame. After sinking a half-court shot to win free tuition for a semester during a freshman pep rally at Ball State on Aug. 21, Turner gained Internet and local fame for his long-range shooting ability. Turner, a freshman on Ball State's boys volleyball team, swished his half-court shot, then ran around the court hugging anybody he could find. "I'm terrible at half-court shots," Turner said.
