Offense can't back Verlander as Tigers fall to Rangers, 2-0

DETROIT Justin Verlander stuck around longer than Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus. Ausmus was ejected after the Tigers were doubled up at second and lost a replay challenge in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Tigers were trailing, 2-0, at that point and went on to lose by that score to the Texas Rangers Friday at Comerica Park. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak. Verlander allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits over seven innings with eight strikeouts. He has allowed one earned run or less in each of his last three starts and in six of his last eight.
