Morton shines as Pirates blank Giants, 4-0

PITTSBURGH Charlie Morton's fifth-inning curveball darted and dived toward the dirt, and Jake Peavy gave a two-strike swing so mighty that his bat went flying and whirled to a stop near third base. Not such a remarkable moment, perhaps, as Peavy is a pitcher, after all. Except the next three hitters the top three on the San Francisco Giants lineup card were sent down in similar, strikeout fashion, with Morton dropping a devastating breaking ball for strike three, and Gregor Blanco, Matt Duffy and Brandon Belt dragging their bats back to the bench.
