1. Orioles finally get a crack at their long-time tormenters from New York

Against anyone else, it would have seemed preposterous when the 12-year-old boy's hand reached into the field of play to change the course of the Orioles' 1996 playoff run.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- On Wednesday night Center fielder Adam Jones became the first Oriole to play in all 162 regular season games since Miguel Tejada did it in 2006. Since 1954, only seven Orioles have played 162 games: Cal Ripken Jr. (10 times),...

  5. "Ed-die!" chanted again in Baltimore -- the way it always should have been

The rain would not come for another hour, so Hall of Famer Eddie Murray had to settle for bathing in the affection of his close friends and the large gathering of fans who crowded into Legends Park to see his statue unveiled on Saturday.

  15. Some random Orioles thoughts (Flanagan, Ripken, Mussina, Dauer, Flaherty, Marin)

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the death of Mike Flanagan at his home in Monkton. He would be 60 years old. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Suicide is an exceptionally difficult issue for survivors to deal with. From my personal experience, that first-year anniversary is a real difficult day. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Orioles have a moment of silence in honor of Flanny’s memory tonight.

  21. 'People are hungry for this'

Two Sundays ago the Orioles won for the 41st time, guaranteeing a winning record at the mathematical mid-point of the season — Wednesday's game in Seattle will be their 81st — for the first time since 2008. Despite a recent swoon, the club appears capable of at least pushing for one of two wild-card berths and a return to the playoffs for the first time since 1997.

  23. Statistically, Orioles don't look like contenders — but there are moves to be made

No sport lends itself more to comparative statistical analysis than major league baseball.
