For Jason Kipnis, 2B or not 2B never was the question.

It was the answer.

Twice the sixth-year Indians second baseman has been an American League All-Star since getting drafted in the second round in 2009 out of Arizona State.

"Baseball's always been No. 1," Kipnis said before Monday's doubleheader against the White Sox at U.S.Cellular Field. "Every other sport was No. 2 or down."

Baseball diamonds may be his best sporting friend, but Kipnis didn't limit his athletic experiences to one sport growing up in Northbrook. He played hockey until about fifth grade, he said.
