When you go to extra innings scoreless twice in three days, you need offensive help.
I’m just not sure how the White Sox’s trade for third baseman Kevin Youkilis helps that right now.
At one time, Youkilis was a terrific heart-of-the-order hitter and part of Boston’s World Series winners in 2004 and 2007. This, however, does not seem to be that time.
Youkilis has one RBI in June, or six fewer than Orlando Hudson, the Sox starting third baseman against Milwaukee on Sunday who popped out with the bases loaded to send the latest scoreless tie into extras.
Youkilis has not homered this month. Hudson at least got lucky on one swing.
