Mike Lowell is the third baseman for the MLB's Boston Red Sox. Prior to signing with the Red Sox, Lowell played for the Florida Marlins and the New York Yankees. The 2007 season was one of Lowell's best in his major league career, having the 7th highest batting average in the American League. Since the 2000 season, Lowell has appeared in 1163 games as third baseman, the 2nd most games in major league baseball of a third baseman. In 1999, Lowell was diagnosed with testicular cancer, but has since been treated for the disease. He and his wife Bertica live in Pinecrest, Fla., with their two children. (Photo courtesy MLB)
